Apart from GIGI wax, which you would recommend. I mean good and affordable to use in salons?

Apart from GIGI wax the other ones you need a license to buy in a pro store.

EDIT! Then I would say Lycon wax is the best ever. They have a gold wax for strip waxing and the best EVER hard wax for brazillians. At my spa we use it on pretty much every area of the body except large areas like back, legs, arms. Its great for sensitive skin and coarse hair. It doesn't hurt as badly either as other waxes. I work at the worlds largest spa in the world on the Las Vegas strip and I have used it on every hair and skin type under the sun. Trust me! It works!

I have a dance coming up and i need to get my hair done ,but i don't no how much it costs.Anyone know? How much does long curls cost at hair salons?
Well, the cost of curls actually differ from place to place. But, if you have a styling gel and a curling iron you could probably do it that way and have some close friends help. How much does long curls cost at hair salons?
depends on the salon, hair type, etc...
As a professional, if your hair is long, I get no less than $50.00 to curl and do a formal set . Up or down, it usually takes at least one hour. You could possibly save money by doing it at home. BUT, the difference is, when I do it, it stays all night. I've never in 20 years had a formal do to fall.
do it yourself with a curling iron

when i get my hair done like a perm then it costs a little more then 100 or 200 i forget
go get a curling iron and get ur mom to do it. at a salon it can run $30+

How do salons get rough hair so straight?

Well im african american an lets just say my hair isn't the best grade so I went to an egyptian salon and got a relaxer with a wash and set and when they were done, my hair was very straight and silky and had so much body! I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of shampoo, conditioner, and relaxer they use?How do salons get rough hair so straight?
You should probably go back there and ask them or they treated you hair chemically which keeps it straight for monthsHow do salons get rough hair so straight?
im african american as well, and my hair is always straight and silky when i leave a salon too.

try using the biolage matrix line, or paul mitchell, b/c lots of salons use that one.

yur stylist probably uses a top-of-the-line starightener too, i suggest a chi (or conair if yu dont want to empty yur pockets). its important to use the same products from the same line, b/c they were made to work well w/each other.

wrapping your hair every night also helps keep it straight and silky*
every salon uses different stuff so i wouldnt no. i would go back and ask. most of the time they sale the stuff they use there !

Are there any Locks of Love salons participating in Worcester County of Massachusetts?

I'm donating my hair within the next couple of days, and the only local Salon I know of that does free haircuts for donors is kind of far away.

Anyone know of any?Are there any Locks of Love salons participating in Worcester County of Massachusetts?
The best way to figure this out would be to just call around local salons and ask. But keep in mind you may not want to go to a salon just because they're cutting it for free (at least I wouldn't want to...) since you're cutting off so much hair. When I cut mine for Locks of Love I still went to my regular salon even though I had to pay for it because I wanted it cut by someone I knew and trusted.. but that's just my opinion...

How can I tell my esthetician that she misses spots when waxing me? Or is this typical at all spas and salons?

I recently started getting waxed and I'm really enjoying it. However, the place that I got to, the lady misses huge patches. I don't really understand how she could miss it because it just seems so obvious and I'm paying her good money. For the most part she does a great job except for the spots she misses! Should I go to to another place or does this happen everywhere? Or how can I politely tell her?How can I tell my esthetician that she misses spots when waxing me? Or is this typical at all spas and salons?
She probably didn't realize it. It's not normal but I'd just tell her.How can I tell my esthetician that she misses spots when waxing me? Or is this typical at all spas and salons?
You're paying for it, so you ought to get what you want. If you're new to the place, I wouldn't be bashful and if you are bashful, maybe it's worth looking around. I've found Yelp to be a very valuable resource for finding new businesses, though they do yank my reviews, which I find very annoying.
I am going to assume you mean on your legs, as it would be obvious that she missed a spot on your bikini line...my waxer misses a strip on my leg fairly often (must me how I lay down). I point it out to her, and she is more than happy to fix the problem spot...
Just tell her how you want whatever your waxing, waxed. She can't read your mind, and she might not know how much you want waxed.

I have a great straightener by Jilbere and I love mine. I purchased it at http://www.sallybeauty.com

the only thing is, theyre more expensove at the stores because when you buy it at a salon it comes with a one year warranty

I wouldnt buy a CHI because those are crap . If you took a piece of metal and scraped it along the hot plates it would peel , so instead I bought an I.S.O. stragihtner that has a lifetime guarantee and if it breaks they will send you a new, and I also think it works better than my old CHI .

Do you think the publics is aware of the rising problem in nail salons?

If they were educated enough, they would know. But they contribute by continuing to go to these discounted places and they could end up with fungus, no nails left, infections like mrsa or flesh eating disease, or even death. So if they knew they were willingly exposing theirselves to this, do you think they would? I don't think they have a clue about it. The truth has been exposed but maybe not enough. I did contact the media a while ago.Do you think the publics is aware of the rising problem in nail salons?
apparently there are no laws regulating Nail Salons nor do the local Health dept. check up on them.

Do the tanning oils sold in salons really make a difference?

And if it really does work, which brand do you recommend?Do the tanning oils sold in salons really make a difference?
Yes they do work. I don't know of a specific brand that stands out, though.

P.S. Please don't tan! Sooo damaging!

How do i go from black hair to chocolate brown without hair salons?

Ive been dying my hair black for 5 years now and i want to go to chocolate brown..ive tried pre lightners before but the top half went ginger and the rest wouldnt take even though i had it on for a long time. In the end i went black again. I really cant afford to go to a salon to get it done as i have a new born baby and she takes up all of my money!

Thanks xHow do i go from black hair to chocolate brown without hair salons?
    Hi

Speaking from experience if your hair is dyed black you cannot go to chocolate brown without the help of the salon. I dyed my hair black a few years ago and attempted to put a auburn dye over it which left me with red roots and black ends!! I was totally unaware that dying your hair black was irreversible if doing it yourself.

The salon uses a very harsh chemical to strip your hair of any colour and then dye over it. Be warned though this does leave your hair very dry for a long time. Which was why I didn't try this option.

The only option if you have minimal money is unfortunately letting it grow out. If your natural colour is light try a semi permanent dark brown over it to hide the roots (semi will eventually fade out). Or what I did was have copper highlights put down my parting to cover the roots as it grew out (this still cost me 拢50 though!).

If your desperate shop around for the best price to strip the colour. How do i go from black hair to chocolate brown without hair salons?
are salons really expensive in your area?

i would rather you go to a salon because they know how much dye you need to turn your color to a certain shade.

by testing with various products, you are not only damaging your hair but also wasting money testing the products.

but if you insist on home dye. i suggest choose maybe a shade or two lighter than your desired color? because your hair is currently black so its harder for them to show the dye.
You will have to bleach first because color cannot lift color. Bleach kit with a 20 or 30 volume developer. Get an ash tone (cool) dye in the color of brown that you want. This is actually easy! Bleach, shampoo that out, then tone the same way. The ash will give you the brown that you want and will tone out the orange that pops up when you bleach.
try a color remover, my favorite is Oops (EXTRA STRENGTH).

if that doesn't lighten it enough, then bleach it, it might going orange, but its alright because your going to put the other color on top of it.
Put some chocolate in the Microwave for 2 mins

When it's done, Pour it on your head

Are there any good hair salons in Toronto to get crazy hair dye done?

or try http://www.haircolor.comAre there any good hair salons in Toronto to get crazy hair dye done?
any salon will do it for you, you need to bring the purple in most cases though. They'll bleach out the part you want done, and put the purple over it. Have them put you under heat while the color is in. It will make it more vibrant, and it will last longer.

Are there any salons that are good at doing scene hair cuts and styles?

Right now my hair is pretty plain jane... but im sick of it. I think that my personality matches a scene hairstyle and i think they look awesome. But I dont wanna go to just any hair salon by me because i dont think they would understand what i want.. and i dont want my hair to be completely destroyed. i live in Lemont Illinois, but if you know of any hair salons that are good at scene hairstyles in Illinois or a state close to the border let me know! Are there any salons that are good at doing scene hair cuts and styles?
I am doing the same thing. I found alot of hairdressers, but none that can do scene hair. You have to look for the youngest group of hairstylists to do it because they learn the latest hair trends.

Like, my mom is a hairdresser, but she doesn't know how to do scene hair because they never taught her that back in the day.

If there is a mall somewhere, the ones in the mall should be able to do it.

Just bring in a picture, ASK them first if they think they can do it.

If they're not sure, don't bother ruining your hair. Just keep trying different malls. Have your mom take you to salons close to home and bring a picture before making an appointment to make sure they can do it.

So, I just discovered this weekend that the place I've been going to haven't been keeping their tools clean apparently. I've never gotten nail fungus until now. Who do I call in order to have someone check on them? Thanks!Who do you call about sanitary issues at nail salons?
thats pretty gross!! Sorry to hear that. You would contact the county board of health. They would then get involved and make random checks on the area....if they do find unsanitary conditions they will close the salon and order them to clean it up or face finesWho do you call about sanitary issues at nail salons?
Either the health board or the cosmetology association in your area that certifies them to be working. But i think you might have more luck with the health board.
The Department of Public Health or the Health Department! ewwwe grossss!

    Ghost Busters.

Why do so many Chinese people work at nail salons?

Every nail salon I've been to has all Chinese workers. I've never seen one person who wasn't Chinese that worked at a nail salon.

Why is that? Why do so many Chinese people work at nail salons?
Every nail salon i've been to--the workers were asian, That was until a couple months ago. I went to this salon and there was a White woman there doing nails, i'm sorry, but I was shocked. I've also seen a black woman on Youtube doing acryllics and she's very talented. That just goes to show you--stereotypes are BS.

Another thing-- yes, when it comes to their businesses they do tend to keep it in the family. The other day my mom was like, ';They forget that Americans have given them the opportunity to even have their own business; yet, they don't want any other ethnicities to be a part of their business.'; Something to think about. Why do so many Chinese people work at nail salons?
    It's a thing that they've dominated.

Like in New Orleans, there's this meat shop that Vietnamese people have owned for years and years. My mother asked them why there's never been a black owner (being that New Orleans was predominantly black) and the man told her that there's never been a black owner because they don't sell to people outside of the family, each person would make 100,000 or so then sell it to another member of their family and it would continue that way! I thought it was the most brilliant thing I've ever heard, they help each other UP instead of pulling each other BACK unlike Americans.
Well you see Chinese people every where doing all types of jobs from nail salons, restaurants owners, business owners, to office workers...I guess you dumb ***** rather beg for money than working a decent job. I lived in 4 big major cities and all i see is white and blacks homeless people begging for money.
Because it requires a skill of art. In the little town I live in the shops run by oriental people closed and the ones run by non-oriental are still open.

It's a skill that takes time to learn and most people either don't like the work, the hours or carpel tunnel!
I thought it was usually Vietmanese, but I believe they come here an open and own those shops and only employ their family members and close friends.
I'd guess that they are not Chinese, but a variety of Southeast Asians. It depends where you live as to where their heritage is.
They're not Chinese, dipsh*t...they're Vietnamese. At least all the one's in my neighborhood are. Jeez, why don't you ask them next time?
    because blacks are too lazy?

Most states won't allow any food or beverage of any kind in the salon part of the building. There is too much hair and the chemicals can actually seep into the food from the air and cause sickness.

Are there any hair salons that have stylists who do dreads in or near Knox County, Ohio?

I've waited long enough to grow my hair out nice and long, and its time for dreads. Any suggestions on where to go? Also, if you have dreads, can you give me advice before I get them? Thanks! Are there any hair salons that have stylists who do dreads in or near Knox County, Ohio?
my top advice would to definatly get it done at a salon because they know what they are doing and if you dont and attempt to do it at home it will probably end up looking worse than you would like

most big salon chains will do it for you if you go in and explain what you want done they will set aside a morning or so to get it done

also they will be there to go back to if you have any problems and most will give you a cheaper price if you go back reguarly

oh and some more advice, you will probably get loads of people saying your hair is disgusting and ugly etc.... but dreads are the coolest hairstyle in my opinion and loads of others and just enjoy having them!

Are there any hair salons in england to permanantly straighten hair?

are there any salons in northeast, england

    to professonaly straighten hair.

    in northeast england.

    Where are they located?

    what is the price?

what is there phone number? Are there any hair salons in england to permanantly straighten hair?
Most salons chemically straighten hair, you just need to ask, phone them by looking in the yellow pages. It can be quite expensive, so save up, but bear in mind, if you have this done too ogten, it can damage the hair. But once or twice is fine!

    Could you answer mine please?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>Are there any hair salons in england to permanantly straighten hair?
You should get your hair chemically straightened. it lasts much longer, its about 75$ though. Just grab a phonebook, and call around to different salons.

    Hope i helped.

Girls who work at salons and do manicures/pedicures for people?

I'm a college student and I also work part-time at a fast food place, and I don;t really like working there anymore. For the summer, I won't be doing any courses and can work full time - I'm looking for a job that's not in the food service sector.

There's a store at the mall where they do manicures %26amp; pedicures only. The lady there asked me to drop off my resume if I wanted to work there. Would it be an ok place to work?Girls who work at salons and do manicures/pedicures for people?
Would be decent, but don't be thrilled by the pay.

Not to mention, the work there I heard is pretty dirty.Girls who work at salons and do manicures/pedicures for people?
I don't know where you live and how things are there, unless it's the U.S. where I live, but you need to go to school and train for these jobs, then after you graduate you have to take and pass State Boards, then you can look for a job working at a salon.
ya its super fun, but you have to be certified unless your going to just be a receptionist, and depending on the salon, if its upscale or not, depends on your pay.

I am a colorist in a upscale salon and we have mani's and pedi's and pay our receptionist $16.50 an hour.
well if you know how to do nails really good it will be but if you don't know how then maybe you can still turn in your resume but also put in one for another job.
yea.. just wash your hands a lot!

  • What are the best salons in Bloomington, IL for highlighting/color?

I'm from Chicago and I'm looking for a salon comparable to those downtown. That means I'm willing to pay a big price for great quality. I'm looking for a salon that does full highlights using several foils to achieve a natural, not streaky look. i'm not sure. i was wondering the samething. I've used the sally hanson wax. But that doesn't work very good. And the strips those don't work either.

How come only Chinese women work at nail salons?

Does anyone know the answer to this?? Anytime I go into a nail salon, all the employees are Chinese. Why is this?Does it have something to do with Chinese culture? How come only Chinese women work at nail salons?
    stereotype much?

ive seen white, black, and asian..even hispanic women working in nail shops. How come only Chinese women work at nail salons?
It's definitely more Vietnamese than Chinese, but if you aren't asian I understand why you wouldn't recognize the difference.

Lots of beauty schools and trade schools offer programs for international students who move to the US.

As far as culture goes, when one family member starts a business or does well at a company they do tend to bring in mostly family members to work there. As one of my Vietnamese clients told me ';You don't have to pay family';. It keeps costs down and keeps the wealth within the family. Something us greedy self-serving Americans might not understand
I don't want to sound stereotypical, but I am not saying anything degrading so i hope I don't offend anyone. But usually they are good at small, intricate details and art, and it pays good and you don't have to speak much Englsih to do that line of work.
    there not chinese

    their usually vietnamese.

my mom owns a nail salon.

i dont kno why. it doesnt have to do with vietnamese culture.

and they usually hire family and friends.
Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean or others.

With little education or little english or other reasons. Easy to learn and good money. This is the only way for them to make proper money, then having low income.
they are naturally good at it. and its realllllyyyy good money lol. besides the owner is usually asian and has other relatives/friends that r employees
because they are good at it and if the owner of the salon is chinese they will probably only hire chinese people
    thats not true hun...

  • What is the difference between regular salons & aveda salons?

Do they have more experience with haircuts or with more schooling with hair cutting?

thanks for any help! What is the difference between regular salons %26amp; aveda salons?
Its similar to a supercuts and a normal barber/salon. They have the same amount of schooling. They are just trained at Aveda to do things a certain way and use Aveda products. Also they are generally more expensive as the company takes a cut of the profitWhat is the difference between regular salons %26amp; aveda salons?
just the brand name of the salon really

they seem more professional but if it is a business then they should all have experience you know but aveda seems pretty cool.

    http://www.aveda.com/whatsnew/whatsnew.t鈥?/a>
    money; simply money.
they just train with aveda but they are no different than a regular salon and no better
    the aveda name
