How do hair stylists at chain salons get paid?

I ask this question because my hair stylist is constantly complaining about receiving small tips from customers. Each customer pays $75 on average for her services and usually tips about $5-$8. What portion of this money goes to her?How do hair stylists at chain salons get paid?
depending on the chain.

Most pay Min wage or 45% which ever is greater over a two week period. So on 75 she is seeing around 33 dollars then her tax is out of that. So lets say she is doing 5 people a day at 75, she brings in 375 a day but her share is 168.75. Not bad if her days are always like that. she take home for that day is around 126.

As a stylist myself I feel it is wrong to ever comment to a customer about your tips, they are not required nor does everyone have the money to give one.How do hair stylists at chain salons get paid?
some just get paid commission plus tips it just depends on where they work
Probably about 10% of the total. I worked at Smartstyle in Walmart for a while, and we got 10% of each sale, tips, and a small hourly wage of $3.15per hour. So pretty much, tips are what you depend on.
