peppermint heals and soothes the skinWhat is the peppermint oil in the tanning salons used for?
i think its to cool you down and stop the burning but i expect i am wrong
It helps if you use that so your skin wont burn and also it helps your tan look so much better, and also it keeps your skin soft and it will help not to dry your skin out while tanning...hope this helps..It works great, i recommend using it everytime
to make you taste like peppermint.
It's because it stinks in there. Seriously...I worked at a tanning salon way back when, and the smell of sweat and tanning lotion combined is a very pungent, very odd odor. Peppermint oil is also antimicrobial, but I'm sure they use something else to clean with.

EDIT: Peppermint oil contains menthol, which is a skin irritant. You shouldn't put it all by itself on any skin, especially inflamed or burned skin. Even when it's added in tiny amounts to skin care products (a dumb idea but they do it anyway since it gives you that tingle) it can be an irritant. The tingle might feel soothing because it's cool, but it's actually just bothering your skin. Try chamomile for soothing your skin.
